Welcome

Hello and welcome to my digital portfolio,

My name is Bejay Prosser, I am from Oshawa, ON. I attended the University of Waterloo from 2001 – 2006, and obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology (Pre-Health Option) with a Minor in Biology.

Throughout my high school and university careers I have been working gymnastics coach. I started out as a recreational coach working for Stars Fitness & Gymnastics (formerly Gemini Stars Gymnastics). There I coached the community youth boys, and girls ranging from 18 months to 16 years of age. It was very rewarding and provided me opportunities to work with a diverse group of youth including: behavioural, hearing impaired, and cognitively less developed. In 2001 I co-founded a not for profit competitive gymnastics club, Gym Stars Dynamic Gymnastics. I have been on the Board of Directors as Secretary since the inception of the company to the present date. I have been involved in developing the programs offered, assisting with budget matters, maintenence and day to day duties. I am a certified Level 2 Woman’s Artistic Gymnastics, Level 1 Trampoline, Risk Management, and Respect In Sport all through Gymnastics Ontario. In 2005 I began work for Gym Stars Dynamic Gymnastics as a competitive coach, for the 7-11 and 16-20 year old age groups.

I am currently attending the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) Faculty of Education, Intermediate-Senior Division in the teachable subjects of Biology and Chemistry. I will graduate in June 2009 with a Bachelor of Education. The program at UOIT is a laptop program that focuses heavily on the integration of technology in education. I am developing proficient skill in creating learning objects and using technology to create a safe and engaging classroom environment, where the students are motivated to learn and achieve success.

I am very excited to begin a new career as a teacher and to work with students from very diverse backgrounds and cultures. Teaching is such a rewarding career and I feel very honoured to begin my journey as a life long learner and teaching professional.
